John Sande and Sepideh Arya-Sande serve delicious Mediterranean fare to the community

Owners and husband-wife team, John Sande IV and Sepideh Arya-Sande, are excited to expand the brand’s presence in “The Silver State” with their new location at 1171 Steamboat Parkway, Suite 100, in Damonte Ranch Town Center.
The new Reno restaurant serves an award-winning menu filled with fresh Mediterranean fare that is prepared in house using authentic ingredients and family recipes that have been passed down for generations. Arya-Sande grew up in Iran where she developed a passion for Persian and Mediterranean cuisine at an early age. Arya-Sande first fell in love with The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill while she was in PA School. She frequented the founders’ original location in Henderson as it was a hot spot for meeting friends to study and eat. Before the restaurant began franchising, she always thought it should expand to Reno, and was thrilled that years later, she and Sande would be the ones to accomplish just that.
As a lifelong local, Sande spent 10 years working alongside his father, John Sande III, and building his footprint in Reno as an attorney before branching out to start his own law and lobby firm, Argentum Partners. Sande graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Stanford University, where he also played football, most notably supporting his team in competing in the Rose Bowl in 2000. He later earned his law degree from Santa Clara University and returned home to Nevada to pursue his career.
“Sepideh is an amazing cook who knows Mediterranean cuisine well, so she’s going to thrive in offering exceptional hospitality at the restaurant,” said Sande. “My legal background allows me to tackle some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into operating a business, so we truly make a perfectly balanced partnership that plays well to both of our skills.”
Arya-Sande is a physician assistant who has been practicing medicine for nearly a decade since pursuing her master’s degree in nutrition. Combining her love for hosting and cooking with her nutritional expertise, she’s thrilled to have the opportunity to share her passion through hosting locals in their new restaurant.
“We’ve put so much of ourselves into bringing this restaurant to Reno and we’re looking forward to all our hard work coming to fruition,” said Arya-Sande, who feels right at home with The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill due to her own Middle Eastern roots. “The food is deliciously authentic, and the tzatziki tastes like my childhood – I’m so proud to be able to share something that is so close to my heart with our community.”
The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill offers popular classics with timeless flavors, like The Great Greek Gyro, Souvlaki Plates and Rice Bowls that can be customized with a choice of protein, like lamb, steak, chicken, shrimp and more. These pair well with the restaurant’s fresh Greek salads and four signature house-made dips, including Hummus, Tzatziki, Melitzanosalata (eggplant dip) and Tirokafteri (spicy roasted red pepper).
