Carl’s Jr. recently announced, as part of their commitment to advancing education across the country, the start of the 12th annual Carl N. and Margaret Karcher Founder’s Scholarship program. Students can apply for the scholarship through the application available at the Carl’s Jr. website, but all applications must be submitted by Feb. 1st to be considered for this year. 60 students will each receive $1,000 credited to the vocational school or college of their choice.
The company founders, Carl N. and Margaret Karcher, started the program to help hardworking youth in their community. They began the company in 1941, and their success has lead the company to continue to honor their commitment 70 years later. Winners will be determined based on their school leadership, academic records, community participation, future goals and work experience. Other issues like family circumstances and financial need will also play a part in the decision.
Anyone who applies for the Carl N. and Margaret Karcher Founders’ Scholarship must fit certain criteria. Only high school seniors or graduates who are under 21 years of age and who are planning to enroll for their first semester at an accredited college or vocational school can apply. They must also reside in one of the states where Carl’s Jr. restaurants are operated, including: Washington, Oklahoma, Utah, Oregon, Texas, Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico.
Over $450,000 in scholarships have been granted by Carl’s Jr. since the beginning of the program in 1999. After this year the total will reach over half a million dollars.
